The Soundarya Lahari meaning "Waves Of Beauty" is a famous literary work in Sanskrit believed to be written by sage Pushpadanta and Adi Shankara Some believe the first part "Ananda Lahari" was etched on mount Meru by Ganesha himself (or by Pushpadanta).
Sage Goudapada, the teacher of Shankars teacher Govinda Bhagavadpada, memorized the writings of Pushpadanta which was carried down to Adi Shankara.
Its 100 stanzas eulogize the beauty, grace, and munificence of Goddess Parvati / Dakshayani, consort of Shiva.
Soundarya Lahari consists of two parts i.e.
Ananda Lahari meaning waves of happiness (first 41 stanzas by Ganesha) and Soundarya Lahari.Some believe the first part Ananda Lahari was etched on mount Meru by Lord Ganesha himself and the remaining part Sundarya Lahari (next 59 stanzas) was added by Adi Shankara himself.
